One notable feature is the Accountancy module. In this article, we will answer some of the most frequently asked accounting questions by new Garage Hive customers.

Does Garage Hive do VAT?

Garage Hive allows users to authenticate their VAT connection with the HMRC website and submit VAT returns electronically. To do this, users must:
    Request an authorisation code from HMRC
    Verify their VAT registration number in Garage Hive

Is Garage Hive MTD Compliant?

Making Tax Digital (MTD) is a UK government initiative aimed at modernizing and simplifying the tax system. It requires businesses to:
  • Keep digital records
  • Submit VAT returns electronically using software recognized by HMRC
Garage Hive supports MTD and helps businesses comply with these new requirements.


Does Garage Hive Integrate with Other Accountancy Software?

    Sage Business Accounting Cloud Accounting: Yes, Garage Hive supports integration with Sage Accounting, allowing users to export various data types. Key features include:
  • Exporting customer invoices, credit memos, payments, refunds, vendor invoices, and credit memos using either the posting date or document date for exports
  • Authorizing data sharing by logging into the Sage account nd enabling the integration in Garage Hive

    Xero: Garage Hive offers an API integration with Xero, enabling direct communication and synchronization of ledgers. Key features include:
  • Synchronizing purchase and sales ledgers, including invoices, credits, and payments
  • Adding tracking categories for detailed reporting

    Intuit QuickBooks: Garage Hive supports integration with QuickBooks Online, allowing seamless export of ledger entries. To learn more, follow this  How to Integrate Garage Hive With QuickBooks Online .
    FreshBooks: Garage Hive does not currently support FreshBooks integration. For similar functionality, we recommend switching to QuickBooks Online.
    Zoho Books: Garage Hive does not currently support Zoho Books integration. However, CSV exports are available for most accounting software.
    Crunch: Currently, Garage Hive does not support Crunch integration. CSV exports are available for most accounting software.
    FreeAgent: Garage Hive does not support FreeAgent integration. CSV exports are available for most accounting software.
    Cashflow: Garage Hive does not currently support Cashflow integration. However, CSV exports are available for most accounting software.


When do I need to finish my accountancy exports?

This depends on the Garage Management software you are switching from, as each has its own method of transferring data.


Do I need to wait till the end of the VAT quarter?

No, when using Garage Hive, you do not need to wait until the end of the VAT quarter. Follow your regular accounting routine.


Can I add my own nominal codes?

Garage Hive includes G/L Accounts (Nominal Codes) that support your garage business. You cannot add your own nominal codes because they are linked with PowerBI, which helps PowerBI pull necessary data for reports.


When to Provide Nominal Codes

Since nominal codes are crucial for accounting export to Garage Hive, you should provide them as soon as you begin the process of switching to Garage Hive.
